I'm not convinced about these boots. The Cosmic model have a reputation for the upper wearing out very quickly. Will these go the same way? They certainly look similar in upper to the Cosmic. Otherwise, they look pretty good (in the grey/black, not orange).
Use Captain Paranoia's instructions. I'm the most mechanically inept person and even I made a decent stove (by my 3rd-4th attempt). Best not to ask about the first two, but they were horrid to look at, even if they did technically work.
Only tools to use are a ruler, sharp knife and drawing pin. No gluing / welding / whatever.
And the great thing is the stoves weigh only 9g for a Pepsi can size or 7g for a Red Bull can size. I found the Pepsi can ones look better, work better and are much easier to make (without putting jet holes accidently in the inner wall of the stove using the drawing pin.....)
I fell and bought the Roclite 312GTXs. £25 off from Climbers Shop was the final decider. If I see the 319s cheap, I will probably still get a pair for when I don't need / want the Gore-tex liner. The black / silver does look better than the more colourful 319s, but I'd still prefer plain black.
The sole does feel really grippy. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts.
Climber's Shop have some Inov8 Roclite 312 GTX shoes down from £100 to £75. They are the black / silver versions (latest), not the (old) navy / yellow versions shown in the photo. Limited sizes.
