I would have posted earlier but my iphone just isn't working for posting on the forum now

The idea of sitting in a small, compact enclosed tent isn't particularly appealing when you're big (I'm 6'3)

I'm usually camping with my dog so a small tent is pretty much impossible

I looked for a little while and didn't find anything immediately workable, maybe a tarp tent. Then got an incarnation of the MLD Supermid, fantastic.

Not as good in the wind as a Laser or an Akto, at all in fact, but I haven't found it to be a problem when wildcamping. Its huge inside, floorless, incredibly light and I can pitch it with walking poles.

There's very little that can compare in this size and weight category

a good experiment to get you sorted is get a tin of whatever you fancy - curry, chilli, all day breakfast etc - and trial it at home. This will be fine on the hill too for a day or so

The bags are very solid, much more so than normal freezer or ziplock bags

Its easy, but its heavy compared with dehydrated food. The polylina bags would work fine for heating food in boiling water

Lightweight pullovers are good, but a lightweight insulated jacket is only heavier due to the zip, I wouldn't say its a huge amount heavier. A pullover would pack down smaller though

I have a 60g primaloft jacket which I've found to be very useful

I use the polylina pour and store bags. My food is dry and I pour hot water into the bag to rehydrate the food
