Thomas and Emily my two youngest kids have mithered me for ages to take them on a wild camp so off we went. We caught the train to Ravenglass and set of up past Muncaster Tarn and to the lovely Muncaster Fell which gives lovely views of the Scafell's.
The view from Ross's Camp
We dropped down to Fisherground campsite in Eskdale where we spent our first night. The following day we climbed up past the impessive Stanley Force waterfalls and made for our wild camp on the hills above Devoke Water.
Approaching Devoke Water
We were treated to a lovely evening with brilliant views of Bowfell
After a very warm night ( especially so as the three of us were jammed in a Vango Banshee 200 ) we made our way down through some horrendous bogs to the coast and back to the train. A fuller trip report and lots more pics can be found HERE
On my trip to Raven Crag I bashed across the fallen trees which was very hard work but on my way back down I could see an easier route which came out about 100yds along the forest track (heading south).
