I did contact Montane, more as a review/commentary, but no further info or suggestions were offered by Montane. If they offered to swap it for something that lives up to higher expectations then I'd probably be happy. They did apologise though, and said they'd let their materials team know.
I was also very disappointed with a Montane product and emailed them regarding it....they never even had the courtesy to respond....similarly i had an issue with a Haglofs jacket and the service i received from them was world class! So much so that i ended up sending the lady who helped me some chocolates as a thank you. And when i received my fully repaired jacket back, guess what? She sent me some chocolates back! Now thats how companies gain long term repeat business. By giving outstanding service and having a genuine care about the customer. Something i think Montane seriously need to work on as i no longer buy their products.
We use a Marmot Grid as Montgomery has mentioned above. 2.7 kilos including pegs. Pitches outer first so more practical that the voyagers if you had to set the tent up in the rain as the inner wont get soaked. Ive found it to be extremely tough and will withstand rough weather with ease. I also love the deep bathtub groundsheet as it stops rain or spindrift from gettng into the tent.
Whats Karrimors catch line? "Built different" lols! Yeah built different and not in a good way! Some people reckon Karrimor has been improving...i disagree. They're owned by a company that has a track record of poor customer service.
