Yes Alan was also doing filming higher up on the mountain. You should be able to get a copy of the book on ebay/amazon. They went from the North side and it was in 1996, the same year as Jon Krakauers account in "Into Thin Air".

Craig - read "The Death Zone" by Matt Dickinson. He was employed to film Brians Everest attempt and despite having barely no climbing experience ended up summitting himself when Brian turned round above 8000m. I think it was Brians second attempt.

Hi I'm off to Elbrus and have managed to get insurance through the Austrian Alpine Club for £40. This covers medical and repatriation costs but not belongings. I have looked at IHI (mentioned above) and it is the same story. Has anyone had any luck with other companies?
