Hi selling my ME Ogre goretex xcr jacket size Medium as it is way too big for me now due to size loss from a shoulder injury. I bought this new a few years ago and tbh not really been used a great deal. Its just been hung in a suit cover for a few years as was wearing other jackets out i had. Its in good condition apart from after washing and proofing it last week i put it in the dryer to activate the proofer DWR and some of the tape inside came off on both sides near the top of the zip. I have covered the small areas with mcnett tenacious tape, which is excellent. I have worn it in the shower for 30 mins to test it and had no leaks so its still fine but obviously the tape will need replacing sometime dependent on usage etc. There is a small scuff to the inner too near the bottom rear of the jakcet but just the surface. I am open to sensible offers including postage to the UK. I have attached some pics of the jacket and the clear tape repairs. Please message me if interested and paypal would be preferred payment. Thanks
I always test my new waterproof kit out in the shower for 30 mins when first purchased. It's better it fails there than out on hills. If it does it goes back and i get something else. Just bought a Montane further faster neoshell jacket (first time used this fabric) and early results are very favourable. It was bone dry inside after half an hour of a good water blast. On Sunday when it was boiling I walked in it for 2 hours with just a base layer on underneath and the inside of the jacket was dry, no sign of damp. Must admit quite impressed as with my other jackets I would have been very uncomfortable in that heat, although being honest wouldn't have worn a waterproof normally a good test nonetheless.
It's annoying finding something you really rate and like and buying them for the future in case they stop making them or change the design that no longer fits you. I have tried to stop doing this now as they can perish in certain areas for no apparent reason when you do get round to wearing them. Saying that still got 2 pairs of Montrail trail shoes boxed up under my bed, better check em.
Agree about smartwool now gone shoddy. Teko hikers and the winter weight ones are Excellent. Bridgedales ok but for me wore out and gained a few holes too quickly. I am going to try darn tough next as I haven't seen a poor review of them tbh, plus a lifetime warranty cant wrong really.
