Just bought my first Paramo jacket - the Alta 2. The main reason I did as it's great to be able to get a jacket that fits us biggger blokes.

I've not used it in the wet yet, but have done a few walks including Ben Nevis a couple of weeks ago, and I found that it does breath quite well - the side vents/pockets certainly help. It is fairly short which will suit climbers/scramblers/bikers - long sleeves so they keep your arms well covered when stretching. As with eVent clothing though, you do cool down when you stop moving so better for spring/summer than deep mid-winter.

I carry a Swiss Army knife, but I've only ever used it for slicing pork pies.

Hi all, new to this website, been using walkingforum.co.uk since my wife and I took up walking 3 years ago so know what great help and advice you can get from forums.

Anyway, my wife and I were on a walking holiday in Snowdonia last week and whilst there I was on the lookout for a 'summer jacket' - I already have a Berghaus Goretex jacket (a few years old and a longer jacket) and a new Columbia insulated/waterproof jacket.

Anyway, being an XXL it's not that easy to get a jacket that fits unless the manufacturer is more generous when putting material in their jackets. I saw a great Haglofs Glade on sale at £109 in Cotswold in Betws-Y-Coed but they're not for the bigger guy, then almost bought a Berghaus Bowscale Goretex jacket but it just didn't feel and look right when I tried it on - and I did try it on a few times over a few days.

Anyway, just as I was about to buy the Berghaus (reluctantly) I saw the Karrimor in Field & Trek, tried it on, looked just what I was after and eVent is great for summer jackets so bought it - £99 though in the shop!

Not tried it yet, so hopefully if there's someone out there who has done, it would be great to see what they think. I plan to wear it when going up Ben Nevis in 3 weeks so hope it's good.
