What do people mean by 'really' cold then?

Last winter - for a fair few wild camps i ended up having to stand the cannister in warm water to get anywhere. I'm not even going to consider wild camping in those conditions again (i.e. snow and sub-zero) unless I've invested in a petrol stove. Sleeping with a lump of metal that might possibly leak gas during the night is not an option. We were breaking the ice on the lake with ice axes to get water - so maybe that classes as really cold

Oh - and it's a pain when your boots freeze as well! Took ages to warm up enough water to make them pliable.. They're going in my sleeping bag next time.

Cool - I've been meaning to order a few books so I'll probably order these (along with a few Neil Gaimans). Thanks.

I thought he reminded me of another similar series --- Sharpe... that's the one! I suppose i should have been suspicious when the hero met Boudica in a token name dropping session!

I'll see if my local indy bookshop can order me one of Harry's books then - any starting point you recommend? I'm pretty bad in that if i don't know where to start, I'll just buy a load!

Looks like Big Kev's got some bargains there...

As for the rest:
a) Alpkit - either skyehigh or the lighter pipedream dependign on budget.
b) hmm - laser (lite). I've stuck to the original Laser and it suits me - prefer it to the smaller and lighter laser(insert cool term for year to imply ultralightedness). Plus both doors open. Boo to the new laser design.. Failing that - see what's going for less than 2Kg and see what the reviews are like?
c) Anyone got feedback about the Gelert pocket rocket? Did some musings here http://blog.walkeryri.org.uk/blog1.php/2009/02/21/gelert-stoves - (Links in OM don't appear to work on Chrome.... grrrr.....) Their inferno stove has been OK, but is just too heavy when you've got a pocket rocket.
