I've always hated hoods on jackets I use for riding, if it has one, then it has to roll down to form part of the collar. I can't stand the flapping and would never have it up while riding, plus it'd have to be huge to fit over a helmet. Same goes for back pockets, I've never used one.

I find jackets a difficult for road riding as they're always too bulky to stow but too hot to wear just if you think it might rain at some point so generally carry a pertex windshirt and accept getting wet. Some sort of drop-tailed super packable pocketless hoodless shell with a neck draw-cord would be perfect. If it has to have an extra feature, how about a zip that allows you to access your jersey pockets rather than an extra pocket?

Yes - Miss smart review didn't read very well. It might be someone who wishes to defend a product as they sell it but I'd doubt it was montane - I think they'd contact you privately or at least write a better response.

The same words and phrases do crop up - see how many times some of us have used the same phrase over the course of this thread.

Whenever I've slagged off a product publicly, like on twitter or a forum, I ve always recieved either a personal response or been given an email address and asked to contact the brand privately.

fair point. The guy just seemed like he was trying to help. I know my featherlite jacket is one of the lightest on the market, it was why i bought it as it fits in a back pocket when on my bike. Some of us spend far too long pouring over the specs of our gear before we buy it. We're all stubbon, but sometimes when we feel someone is being let down or an item is not performing to someones expectations, we try and offer an explanation - as you can see from this thread.

Anyway - back to thesis writing. Hope some of this has helped.
