Satmap Active 10  can be purchased wuth full UK 1:50,000 mapping. Need to shop around for the best price as it can vary alot. As a guide Uttings have one with maps for £315. 1:25,000 maps can also be purchased which are good but expensive

As an existing satmap user and have paid for the old version as part of an inclusive package which at the time satmap said was worth nearly 80 pounds and would give perpetual access to route planning access I am currently a very dissatisfied satmap owner.

They want to charge 30 pounds a year for something I have already paid for. If I don't pay I will loose access to the 1:25000 maps for route planning.

If I had known the route planner was in effect 80 pounds for the first two years (I have had my unit for over 2 years) and then 30 pound a year there after I might have considered a different unit and separate digital maps. I think it would have been cheaper in the long run and I could use the maps without going on line which can be difficult when you are away from home and without good internet access.

I am thinking about a pair of Scarpa womens Ranger 2 activ.Has anyone any experience of them.I was wondering if the extra padding at the ankle made them a very warm boot to wear.

I previously purchased Altberg Fremlington which in the shop appeared to met my needs, but the the soles are too stiff and inflexible for me. I can't wear them for more than a few miles.

My walking is on trails in the peak district, south downs and the south west coast paths. All of which can be rocky and rough under foot and I have had boots ( a pair of Zamberlans) which I can feel every  stone underfoot. I am seeking a compromise between under and over booting.

The Ranger 2 appear to be quite good but I can't find many comments about them by users, only sales talk.

Comments would be appreciated please as I have aleady had an expensive mistake.
