I have recently started looking at the weights I carry 'skin out'. All documented in a spreadsheet so I can set myself target weights for a particular bit of kit - that way I can see where improvements can be made easily.

Yes, it's a bit OTT but it works for me

That's the feel I've been getting from older threads here, but not seen much info on the new Quito trousers as yet and how warm they are/suitable as over trousers all year or not.

Maybe I'll get some Paramo for winter and some paclite or some such for summer when I hope I won't need them as much .....

Reckon in terms of weight a pair of Paramos would be better than warm trousers + light over trousers in the pack.

Winter is coming.
My old cheap vander waterproof trousers need replacing.

So... I'm after waterproof trousers. Historically I've always had waterproof trousers that I wore over my normal trousers but the Paramo wear all day and waterproof (/will keep you dry) trousers intrigue me.

I recently bought a Paramo jacket, but found it rather warm in the summer. I don't doubt it'll be lovely for the winter so I'll be investing in another lightweight over jacket in spring probably.

Are the Paramo waterproof trousers the same in the sense that you'd probably only want to wear them in the winter? I'm liking the idea of only 1 pair of trousers if they are actually up to the job (perhaps with a pair of Ronhills or similar to change into when in tent if day trews are soaked!).

I gather the Cascadas/Velez/Torres are wear all day style but I'm not sure which if any would suit me better. The new Quitos look nice with the easy on system but they seem a bit heavy compared to Gore/eVent to use of over trousers only when raining.

I'm indecisive at the best of times!

I got a flyer for our local GoOutdoors yesterday - lots of end of season kit being sold off.

eg:
Scarpa SL M3s @ £100 (and I just bought some a couple of weeks back at £150

). Berghaus Paclite ii £50 (or was it 60).
