Hi Jamie,

I've got several of the Karrimor drybags and have found them to work well. They are quite durable and seem well made so I don't have any complaints. Having said that, there are lighter options out there but these will probably cost more. If you want an alternative, you could try Alpkit, which also do reasonably priced ones.

Looks dodgy - I'd definitely avoid this!

A former MSP, Dorothy-Grace Elder, who seems to have no link to mountaineering, was on Radio 4 You and Yours today  (20 mins in) saying that we should restrict access to the mountains if there's any snow. She wrote a rather unpleasant article (http://www.thinkscotland.org/thinkpolitics/articles.html?read_full=11951 ) a few weeks ago in response to the deaths in the avalanches in Scotland and seems to be wanting her 15 minutes of fame.

A rather annoying person, who wants to stop people doing what they love because she thinks it's dangerous. She also describes climbers as selfish people who want to go out and die (!!?).

I wouldn't say that people are trying to stir up trouble. I'm not going to comment on the videos, other than to say that lighting a fire on a historical monument isn't a good idea.

I think that the broader issue here is that people (not just the guys in the video) camping on historic monuments and lighting fires gives the walking and wild camping community a bad name. This could seriously damage relationships with land owners, organisations such as English Heritage, and the general public. It could lead to future access to these places being restricted, which no-one wants. It's not unreasonable to flag up behaviou that you consider to be wrong. I would comment in the same way on a video if I saw someone damaging rare plants or someone's property for instance.

Furthermore, the response by one of the commenters, if you could understand him, was extremely rude, unpleasant and childish. It was not a mature response and prevented any sensible discussion from taking place.
