Assume you mean a home tumble drier. OK, that's encouraging, I think I may put my trust in you Parky and give it a go! Do you have indemnity for the advice if it all goes wrong?!?!?! Good to hear your thoughts about the NikWax too. I'll keep you informed!
Having now looked online, drying it is tricky as you need a large tumble drier on low heat. Launderette ones are likely to be too hot. Drying it at home means you must massage the feathers regularly and it can take days to properly dry. Washing needs to be in a machine able to take a 10kg load or more (bigger than normal domestic machines) or you can do it in a bath, but it'll be very heavy after. I've just called Franklins and they offer the service for £36 including P&P, it takes about 3 weeks. Tough call as the jacket only cost £80............
Good thinking! Yes, the same instructions for the jackets as the sleeping bags - an oversized washing machine and a cool tumble drier (along with tennis shoes or balls!) are required. Either that, a lot of effort or Mountaineering Designs for a professional clean.........probably a bit late saying to keep out of the mud!
There is no label on my Alpkit down jacket saying how and even if it can be washed. I'd imagine sticking it in the washing machine is a NO-NO but it's filthy.........any ideas?
