thanks for the alternative views.. i'm going to recontact a range of companies to ask the question of storage again. though i do realise manufacturers info does differ from experienced users. i'm curious to know what they say and what the reasons are.

downs no good as i'll be out in wet condititions and using a poncho as a bivi bag (used it for years).

currently i fit a weeks worth of camping into a 35L bag but i want to go smaller and its my sleeping bag thats causing the problems.. was shown one once the size of a large grapefruit but no idea the make or name..

interesting reply, i've heard this a lot from various people so contacted Rab, Montaine and warmth unlimited asking for info, all came back telling me the same. that down needs to be stored lofted so as not to damage the feathers mixed in with the down. which is why down sleeping bags come with a cotton bag for storage whereas synthetic bags come with just a stuff sack. the same can be put to jackets.. synthetic fill such as primaloft is essentially a hollow polythene tube that will flex and spring without harm (during its lifespan wich is less than that of down by far).

i'm always eager to learn more though and if my information is wrong then i appologise.

hi all,

i'm on the lookout for a small packsize (smaller the better.. smaller that a vango ultralight 100) synthetic fill sleepingbag for temps down to 0c

got a high budget and had looked at the lamina range but packsize is a bit big still.. trying to fit my kit in a 25l bag and the sleeping bag is the last bit. .

Any help?
