I don't seem to be able to PM you but can you give me a rough idea what you consider an acceptable offer to be.  I don't want to go insultingly low but it would have to be a good buy to take the whole lot as I would have to selll some of it on to leave me with the things I could use.

I decided to post here after reading the 'boggy' comments on the Hart Fell and Criffel walk descriptions to see if there were any 'classics' for the area such as Pen y ghent or Malham might be in the SE Dales (nearer me).  We don't have any snow here so thanks for the tip about the spikes.  I will have GPS so if I have a few routes planned I can download the GPXs beforehand so hopefully no big issue with walking in cloud.  Greymares Tail looks good with a slightly longer version here : http://www.walkingenglishman.com/scotland09.htm

Thanks.  I may visit the Lakes on the way back south on the way home so I guess it's more worthwhile to stick to the Scottish side.  If the Galloway hills are worth the extra travelling I will consider that.

Before posting I had looked at this :

especially the Hart Fell ridges but just didn't know if this walking area was the best I could manage with only a couple of days to venture out.

I have an unexpected free weekend this weekend (22-25 March) at a hotel near Gretna.  I don't know the area too well and would like any suggestions within 45 minutes drive of Gretna for a couple of day walks if possible.  Probably 8-12 miles circular.  I can find routes if I have a couple of suggestions of good areas to walk.  Coastal or hills but nothing more dangerous than a mild scramble.  Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
