The smartwool is thicker I think. They look it. I prefer bridgedale socks generally. I find they wick better and hold less water than smartwool. I like to wear a liner sock in winter inside a heavier sock.

I have a Rab Generator smock and I really like it. It's very warm and packs small. The pertex has a lovely feel and gives good water resistance. I use it pretty much year round. The gilet is about 60 grams lighter at around 280 grams I believe.
It would be my recommendation if you are going synthetic.

Cool. Enjoy!

Are pitches easy to come across in that area?

Yeah the pegs shuld save me 50 grams or so depending on how many I use actually. Not massive though. Lol.

That's damn good. You staying in huts or does that include shelter?
Where abouts in the alps?

I would be interested in seeing a gear list if you feel inclined.
