No but actually it is food for thought. I'm a 22 yo sout some I'm hoping to meet some local scouts out there as well. Are the tours etc usually for older people (no offence), just as I would enjoy a tour more if I had more people my age. Just doesn't seem the sort of thing people my age do
Evening all, I'm looking at doing the inca trail in the summer, and would like to travel about Peru for a bit too. I don't want to be tied into one of these 23 day tours or what ever, but really want to make the most out of it. How's the best way to do the actual inca trail part, I mean are there places that I could just rock up to and go in Peru? Do I need a guide, I'm more than able to carry my own kit so I could I just do it by myself? Can anyone tell me about their inca trail experiences, and give me some advice please
I'm looking at trying to get a lightweight solo tent for some solo backpacking. I've looked at loads, from single skins to tarps and bivis etc. but would like a double skinned, fly first pitched tent (so I can keep the inner nice and dry). I looked at a few that I like but all seem to have pros and cons. Hilleberg akto - everybody rates them, but it's heavier than most (but I can live with that) and some people say they have major condensation problems, and the vents can only be open from the outside. From photos it also looks like when the vents are open it could soak the inner in rain? Force ten vango helium carbon - would probably go for the 200 for extra room as the 100 seems tight for space. Haven't heard anything about condensation problems, but porch seems tiny! Very little room to cook in. Vaude power lizard ul - loads of room, decent porch, lightweight, but been told you can't get a taut pitch, and again major condensation issues Golite shangrila 1- heard good things about this tent, but not sure about it, but think the trekking pole usage is good.
Any advise or anything on alternatives or problems on the list above would help
think of get either of these tents and have heard problems with both, anyone want to enlighten me about any problems or suggest which of these two tents are better?
Ok fair point, should have made myself a bit clearer, we're not actually doing it in 24hrs so well probably be spending some time at the summits as most of us have never been up them, so ideally I'd like a warm down jacket that I can stick on when I'm up there to chill out in
