I used to live in Holmfirth, while filming for "Last of the Summer Wine" was still being filmed. Tourists would stop and peer in our windows there - and say "Oh, I didn't realise people lived here!"
The moorings have been used for residential boats for over 30 years.
The footpath is newer than that - it's official existance only started about in 2000.
Local council quite happily takes council tax, I have planning permission to moor a boat. . . (dating back to 1973). My berth is in no way illegal - just living on the boat is a grey area - officially I am a BW resident, cause I pay licence fees to them. They're happy with it.
I don't mind people passing, many dog walkers do, and stop to chat, know me well.
I *DO* object to people stopping specifically to peer in my windows! As I believe you would, Paddy. Not just standing outside - but literally staring in the windows, even walking onto my gangplank to get a closer look.
