I second the The DMM Cirque from your list. Troll do some nice T-Axe's, have a look on their website (google for it) which are around £50. Worth a look at least.

Norway is a vast place with a whole load of locations for good quality ice climbing on offer, do an internet search. Just remember the further north you go the less daylight you get. Not that its really daylight in northern Norway, more like a pink glow, but that’s beside the point.

“Voss” is quite a good base with a few specialists offing guide services in town. But as with the whole of Norway - its going to be expensive. Voss is about 1.5 hrs drive/ride by train from Bergen, so you should be able to get a cheapish flight from the UK. Obviously you baggage will have to go in the hold with the normal limit about 20kg.

Norway has its charms and in the right conditions is a fabulous winter playground (if the weather holds) but its about twice to three times as expensive as say a trip to France.

I used to make a living out of taking novices up mountains, so as long as they have had a stringent vetting to see if they have the required skills (rope/ice work, etc.) then why not? The only problem will be the altitude and how they cope with that as this is the biggest unknown aspect of their ability.

Hello,
I will be back in the UK for a few days in November with my Mr and was wondering if anyone knows of a really good hotel in the Lakes with a good friendly atmosphere, log fires, great location and it must have really good food? Money’s not a problem as it’s a treat and he’s paying! Normally we camp, but I fancy a bit of luxury for a change.
