I don't know if you care too much about the style, but this fits your description very well ; it is windstopper which is obviously less airy than a straight forward fleece hat but the inner fleece is more like a fibre-pile and my first impressions are good. (I got one in the lucky dip bag).
The lucky dip bags at terra nova / extremities are great!!!
I've seen the content of three bags (I bought one and so did two of my coworkers) and they are fantastic value. Of course... life is like a box of chocolates...
Cambridge centre has Haglofs Aquilo samples - I think in XL - red colour at £199. These are selling for 450 at Cotswold and elsewhere so if you need a seriously seriously warm down parka then this is worth a look.
They had several Haglofs polartec thermal pro fleeces at around the £50 mark and the Montane eVent jackets at £99 - I think they were Venture or similar (under 500g). The Montane Extreme jackets were at £59. There was also one Mammut polartec powerstretch jacket in -ahem- sky blue / orange trim for about 50 iirc and another haglofs fleece with fibre-pile / stretch panels at 59. Overall quite a good selection going into winter.
Timely little article as I had just ordered a pair of the Haglofs from SportsPursuit... at a lot less than £90! They are still on for a few more days I think.
What I don't know yet is whether they'll fit me and my rather ample rower/cheese-addict thighs!
