So do I!

I'd better decide where to tell her it hurts...

Ooh, that was a long day. Still, interviews complete and I can have a nice evening marking

Hope the weather up in the Peak was as nice as it was down here for Matt's cycle ride.

Hope it went well Matt .

Thanks folks, I'm back home now, but haven't faced unpacking the car yet - 2 filthy bikes, 1 soggy tent, sundry smelly clothes and bits ot stale food etc...

But it went very well, and we got lucky with the weather. It poured down all Thursday night but stopped just before breakfast (5am ), then stayed fine until Friday evening around 9pm, so all but the last 3 walkers had a completely dry trip. We had a NE wind into our faces most of the day though... but I'll happily settle for that.

9 of us finished the full bike ride (61.7 miles, 1400m ascent) and they liked my route (even the ones who suffered ). Another 2 completed 3/4 of it. About 20 walkers did the full 30 miles and another two dozen did either 16 or 22 miles. And I only walked an extra 5 miles on Friday evening going out to check on the last of the walkers.

We were aiming to raise up to £10k and currently we're standing at just over £7k, so not too bad - some more will undoubtedly trickle in over the next few days, plus we usually hold a couple of other fundraisers (bbq, raffle etc.) later in the year, so we should get pretty close.

Thanks to those who've donated for me. And just in case anyone else fancies chipping in....  https://www.justgiving.com/Matt-Carter-Alz

So Skip, it is incumbent upon you to enjoy your retirement as much as possible, on behalf of all us youngsters who can't retire until we're addled and incompetent/ incontinent

I expect Skip can tell us now what that's going to be like....

Nice photos and report, Andy. That's a great area of Snowdonia, quite rough and rugged despite it's lower stature. We've used it a few times as an escape from the crowds.

(This bank holiday we managed a quiet Saturday and Sunday, on the Moelwyns above Blaenau Ffestiniog and then on the Arans from Cwm Cywarch - hardly saw a soul either day.)
