Yeah I knew I knew his name from somewhere Andrew. He is indeed the leader that John Krak.... speaks about as being completely unhelpful when the 1996 storm broke out.

Im just reading Jamie Andrews book - Life and Limb. Brilliant so far.

The whole story is ringing bells with me though. Was there a documentary made about their story that was shown on television maybe 3-4 years ago?

If Im right, which I think I am, does anyone have any links to the film or know where I could get hold of a copy?

We have the same problem with the D of E award. The award's great in that it gets the kids out into the countryside, but a lot of them absolutely loathe their expeditions and 90% of it is due to the weight of the bag. We try to take the participants out to do training days where they're only carrying a small bag and from these we get a good level of enjoyment out of them.

Sounds fantastic. To have that little rain at this time of year is unheard of. I'm so jealous!

I had similar fortunes last summer in the Grampians. I went in the first week of June and the weather was perfect - beautiful sunny weather for an entire week and not a midge in sight.
