Well perhaps some people think I'm dirty, but I can hike 4-5 days without washing me with soap (including the clothes). I don't care about it at all. At home we have a very nice shower....

Hi Fenland Fred, I just saw your nickname so you're a local in the Fenlands. Since I'm planning a hike with my kids through the Fenlands I want to know all about places to pitch our tent. See this thread:

The Krabs Huskyman means are Carabiners. I use the mini carabiners of Edelrid the Micro 0- size

These things:

I knot from about 35 cm elastic bungees of 3mm thick. I symply put these through a loop of a tie out and connect guyline with the biner to the bungee. Great system that keeps things in a good shape. Even on a pub camping with drunk people tripping over my reflective guylines.

Ofcourse layering and agian layering and again layering. Don't invest in a softshell, mostly not entirely waterproof and not so succesfull under a hardshell (waterproof). Better to invest in a hardshell, fleece and some longsleeve blouse and thermo underwear (long sleeved). Additionally a lightweight thin downjacket that fits under your hardshell for when it's really cold.
