Anyone remind me which brands make waterproof trousers e.g. Goretex, eVent, Polartec etc in short length sizes? My inside legs are only 29 or 30 inches in length so it's always difficult to find stuff.
Also looking for some fleece trousers and a new fleece jacket. I have spotted a few nice Merell freece tops that I might buy so that just leaves trousers. Any recommendations or ideas?
If you just want an app for your smartphone you can't go wrong with viewranger. I got all the national parks at 50k for £15. Paid extra for parks I need at 25k. Simply brilliant!
If a smartphone is too small you can always use it on a bigger android or apple etc tablet though they wont be waterproof.
I guess the Garmin all in one units excel at that . I was tempted by one of their oregon units a couple years ago but too expensive for me and I just wanted one device that multitasks so got a Motorola Defy running Android.
When I eventually upgrade I wont be able to afford the latest and greatest smartphone but may pick up the previous iphone or samsung galaxy s whatever, or alternative try find another rugged phone like the Defy that is more modern and more power.
I'd love a Solostove and currently saving for one but I don't know how good that would be for you at very high altitudes. I presently have an MSR pocket rocket.
Lightwave make great tents that are pretty much bomb proof. I wouldn't mind a small lightwave tent myself. I believe they may be a little harder to put up than Hilleberg tents though. Unable to get onto their website at the moment it says bandwidth limit exceeded! I guess one of their two man tents may offer more space. Or see if they have any extended ones. The pure mountain ones will cost a lot more money but some of the ones lower down the scale in price will also handle mountains and four season weather. Check out the Crux tents as well, same company I believe? And their site is working atm.
Don't forget to look at you tube videos as well to see videos of the tents... and in different conditions. Some very useful stuff on their that can help you research and decide what to go for. Alpkit look like they make tents as well now. Don't know if they're any good but would definitely be worth investigating as they do offer pretty good vfm on a lot of stuff.
