Exped do this compression dry bag

That's the one I am using in the photo above. As I say, on their own they will not compress the mat effectively or even at all but, if you do as I do and use them to store your complete sleep system (mat and bag) then they compress the contents very well.

I doubt it'll do any damage  But using the vertical compressing pack will not compress it to the same extent as the horizontal pack, nor will it be as neat.

I assume this does the same as a valve but instead of a valve it uses its mono-directional breathable sides?

Essentially the same yes, my preferance is for the horizontal compressing bags as I roll everything up but they should work just as well.

Looks like this when packed, That is, Downmat 7 (folded in half lenghways and rolled) + minimus (rolled aound the downmat). drybag is a medium size.  They should fit into the small version too which will probably give better compression.

For the mat alone I can't be sure, as I use one for my entire sleep system (mat and sleeping bag)

I can get a exped down mat, PHD combi + minimus into the medium size exped dry compression bag.

Have to say though, I'm not sure if the bag will compress enough to have an effect on the mat's packed size.
