TBH, I would look at something second hand but he's gonna be lucky to get something decent for that price.  Anything new will be total kak and unfortunately some people consider such tents as throw away items and leave them for someone else to clear up.  Tents at that price e.g. supermarket jobs shouldn't be sold at that price for that reason alone.  Sorry.

Try ebay and go to ukcampsite for reviews etc.

How much is not too pricey and where will he be using it?  Does it need to be light (carried) or is it for car camping?

Gooutdoors have had a few 20% off weekends, so maybe tell him to hang on until the next one.  You can't really go wrong with Vango at the budget end.

Why not carry on the conversation in the same thread so people know what has been said before.  Consantly starting new threads will only get confusing.  Didn't you do the exact same thing with down jackets?

What about visiting a store and trying them on?
