New 'Photo Of The Month' Competition

Morning Still Loch Tulla Sunrise
Morning Still, by Andrew TerrillLoch Tulla Sunrise, by Les McLean

OUTDOORSmagic is full of budding photographers, judging by the number of inspiring images of mountain, moor and ... er ... mist in the OM gallery. Above are a couple of the most rated photographs to grace the OM gallery, but they're far from being alone. So, we've decided it's time to run a 'photo of the month' competition to find the best outdoors photo.

The competition will run every month, with the first one closing at the end of July (so you've got an extra week or so this time to dust off your cameras and get your creative hats on). The winner will be decided entirely by OM members, in the name of transparency, democracy, and all that. Basically, whoever's photo receives the most ratings on the site will take home the prize.

TrekkersBridgedale, our gallery sponsors, are supporting the competition by giving away five pairs of their best-selling Trekker socks to the best photographer. Have a look at their website to find out exactly how a comfortable new pair of Trekkers will enhance performance in every part of your foot.

Every photo that's submitted to the gallery will be entered for the prize automatically, so you can carry on uploading images as usual, with no extra hassle. All you have to do is keep an eye on how many votes your photos have received, and rate the other images that catch your eye.

There's been quite a lot of emphasis on the OM gallery recently, and you can see the gallery highlights of the week in an article every Monday - including last week's round up here. We don't pretend to be the experts though, so it's well worth a look at the gallery in full. Landscapes from Colorado, Romania, the Torridon Hills, and the Pembrokeshire coast have all featured there in the last few weeks, to name just a few locations. Add your own photo to the display here.
