The Week In Pics

By Susan

Bridgedale logo

Rock art, scrambling in Spain, and some really wild camping hit the gallery this week, plus much much more...

Ben A'an

First, a trip north - not if you live on Shetland, obviously - for a view from the top of Ben A'an. It takes in Loch Katrine, looking west, and Loch Achray, looking east into the sunrise - definitely not a bad place to be at the start of a sunny Scottish day. See more in the The Trossachs, Loch Katrine & Glen Finglas or share your views in the forum on the formation of sideways rainbows :-)

Wild Camping

The bright tents fan club on OM might take issue with the colour of the tent in this pic, but few could argue with the location. There are worse views to be had from your front door first thing in the morning, that's all we can say. For more rooms with a view, see the Images album.

Lakeland Fells

Marcus Crompton has been out and about again - last time it was on Arran and now he's in the Lake District. Quite when he finds the time to go to work we aren't quite sure, but we like what his camera gets up to the when he's out of the office. It's definitely worth a browse through his Latest Pictures, although we should warn you that there are lots of them and you might not re-emerge for a while.

Rock Art

David Thompson has an eye for detail and spotted this perfectly patterned stone beside Derwentwater recently. He can do the big sweeping panoramas as well though, along with everything else you might come across in the hills - summer or winter, rain or shine, home or abroad, ridges or waterfalls, it's all in the Dt's walking photos album. Like Marcus' Latest Pictures album, this one comes with a procrastination alert :-)

Caucasus

The head of OM's Romanian contingent, Marian Radu, has been out in the Caucasus recently and sent us this panorama, amongst others. She says it's a 240 degree panorama taken from Pashtuhov Rocks (4650 m) and you can find the full size version here. Her Caucasus 2007 album is also well worth a visit for some great snaps under the shadow of Elbrus.

Bishop's Bay

Forget the hills for a moment, here are some rather enticing sails. Still water, sunshine, a completely blue sky - can this really be Summer 2007?! For more great pics have a look at the Lochaber album which is big on sandy beaches, sunsets, and some seriously iced-up fence posts.

Sierra Nevada

Martin Riley's headed south to the Sierra Nevada for a spot of scrambling on dry rock. He found some varied scenery down there too - whether snow, rock, or greenery is more your thing, there'll be something to suit you in his album.

Pyrenees

Another mouth-watering new set of pics is on display in Matthew Shaw's Pyrenees album, and this scene of Lac de Gaube is the mildest of the lot. If snowbowls and wall to wall whiteness is your thing, it's worth a look at the rest of the offerings.

That's all for now. Upload your photos here - we love looking through them - and if you want some inspiration for places to take your camera, try the routes section of the site. Also, the new, the wonderful, and the downright weird, from the world of outdoor gear, is always up for comment in our gear reviews.
