Two new refershment kiosks in the Peak District National Park are
going to be flying the flag for locally supplied and environmentally
friendly produce, much of it organic or Fairtrade.
The new kiosks near ranger centres at the old station in Millers
Dale and Trentabank in the Macclesfield Forest are part of a Peak
Park programme aimed at supporting the local economy and to this end,
Peak Puddings (at Millers Dale) and J's Mobile Catering (at
Trentabank) have received 45 per-cent cash grants.
Catriona McLees, NEE programme manager, said: "The National Park
Authority is keen to encourage greater use of local produce at its
refreshment sites, which in turn support the local economy and
environment. These two not only do this, but also offer really
delicious food too."
John Sellors, of Buxton-based J's Mobile Catering, is operating at
Trentabank under the name "Nice Nosh." His catchy slogan is "Peak flavours
are planet savers," his local recipes carry the Peak Cuisine seal of
approval, and plates and utensils are biodegradable or recyclable. He
said: "I'd like to thank all the people at the Peak District National
Park Authority, other organisations and local suppliers who've helped
me get this off the ground. People who purchase my food can be sure
they're directly supporting the local economy."
