While we were busy burning our Guys, the winners of this year's Banff Mountain Festival were being announced on the other side of the big pond. Amongst them was the BMC's Peak District climbing guide - 'Burbage, Millstone and Beyond'. OK, so Banff is best known for its films and this obviously isn't one of those - instead it took home the 'Mountain Exposition' prize, from the Banff Mountain Book Festival.
The book took five years to put together - described by editor David Simmonite as "five years of hell". Walking the red carpet in Banff, along with Series Editor Niall Grimes, reassured him that it was all worthwhile though.
The editors had a substantial helping hand from volunteers while they were making the book, so a big thumbs up to all those Peak climbers, and others, who did their bit.
If you don't have a copy and you fancy getting a bit of grit under your belt - or your chalky fingertips - they cost £18.95 and you can buy online from the BMC and most outdoor shops.
