Scarpa Unleashes Hot New Booties

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

Scarpa has launched a pair of hot new walking boots for the summer, replacing two of the most popular longstanding models in their range.

The classic 2/3-season Trek has been given a thorough upgrade and re-emerged as the Trek M2. The latest version of the boot has a number of improvements over the old model including the new M2 sole which incorporates lightweight PU cushioning and an 'extra comfort' heel strike cushion, for more, erm, comfort when walking on hard surfaces.

The upper has also been updated with modern oiled nubuck leather construction and Scarpa's slick Minispeed lacing system as used on the higher end boots like the SL. It's available in both men's and women's incarnations and retails for around £110.

Fabric fans aren't left out either. The new Peak Gore-Tex is a direct replacement for the old Lite Trek and is again seriously revised. It too gets the more cushioned M2 sole and heel strike cushion and the Minispeed lacing system. Like its predecessor it has a combined suede and Cordura upper and a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex liner to keep moisture at bay.

Both should be in the shops about now and you can get further details and information on stockists from the Scarpa UK web site. There are also new travel, trail and approach shoes in the revised range.

Incidentally, retired Scarpa boots - including bothe the Lite Trek and the standard Trek are now being re-born in more economic mode as 'Contour'. Check out our first impressions of the new Pathfinder here.
