Hey Ho Silva CD...

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

Compass and navigational equipment company Silva has launched a combined book and interactive CD Rom package called, in excellent Swenglish, 'Exploring The Nature'.

It might sound like a work of Scandinavian philosophy, but is actually intended as a learning tool for anyone wanting to improve their navigational skills and techniques. The book apparently explains how to use a map and compass together plus has professional advice on how to take accurate compass bearings and which compass to choose for your purposes.

The free CD consists of an interactive introduction to maps and magnetic fields and includes a navigational test that, Silva says, 'will stretch your navigational skills!' We've not had a chance to try the package, though God knows our navigational abilities are stretched by getting to the nearest shop, but it's priced at a reasonable-looking £9.99.

You can find you nearest Silva stockist via the Silva web site or call the Silva sales hotline on 01506 406277. Note that as well as compasses, Silva's current range includes a range of head torches, GPS and binoculars. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're off to explore the nature...
