Petzl has issued a product recall for one of its torches.
The only model affected is the Petzl Saxo Aqua - no other Petzl
torches are covered by this recall and the fault is confined to this
particular model. Note that we're not talking about the standard
Saxo, but just the Saxo Aqua, which is the waterproof version of the
torch.

Saxo Aqua - small risk of
explosion
|
Petzl says: 'Recent testing has shown that gaseous emissions from
defective batteries may cause a minor explosion in the Saxo Aqua,
presenting a risk of injury to the user.'
Fitting an updated bulb holder which contains a gas absorber
(catalyst) removes the risk of explosion. You can either fit the
updated part yourself, by ordering the updated spare part, which is
free or send the entire torch to importers Lyon Equipment and they
will replace the bulb holder and return the torch to you. Take the
batteries out first.
For more detailed information contact Lyon direct either by phone
on 015396 25493 or info@lyon.co.uk
In the mean time, we'd suggest that it's common sense not to use
the torch. You can see the recall
notice on the Petzl site.
