As Everest fever grips, BBC Radio 4 is determined not to be left
out and is broadcasting a series of programmes to commemorate the
anniversary.
This Friday 23 May at 11am, there's a look at the physiology of
high altitude and the dangers of altitude sickness that sounds
potentially fascinating, so pack your headphones into work and catch
it on the web. Tut, though you can also access already broadcast BBC
radio in streaming format from their web site.
Then on Saturday evening, Stephen Venables is the narrator of a
history of mountaineering on Everest, including rare contemporary
tapes of the the 1920s Mallory expedition climbers talking about
their experiences on the mountain.
And there's more besides. See the BBC
Everest page for full details.
