The Russians Are Coming...

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

The barriers really are well and truly down with the news that not only have Chelsea been transformed into a half-decent team with an influx of Russian cash, but Pertex is going to be working with a major Russian outdoors company from next summer. And what's more, the brand is set to be unleashed on the UK at the Go Outdoors trade show next month...

BASK might be pretty well unheard of over here, but they're a well-known and respected brand in eastern Europe. The company is reportedly the only one in the world to use 100 per-cent pure eiderdown for their insulated garments, providing a very soft and highly efficient effect with excellent insulation values.

Not surprising really given the long-term reputation of eastern bloc mountaineers for extreme mountaineering.

The company's going to be using Pertex fabrics for the first time in their Spring/Summer '03 range in a move, described by Pertex Sales Manager, Paul Bolton, as 'an exciting new venture... This partnership will provide a perfect platform for us to launch the Pertex brand in Russia, exclusively with BASK.'

For now you can see the BASK web site here but we'll hopefully be able to tell you a lot more about them after the Harrogate Show.

Did anyone see anything on sale from them in the UK?
