GoLite Kit Packages Hit The Web

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

Ultra-light American kit GoLite has just got a lot easier to find with web outdoor specialists Hike-Lite selling the brand online complete with some special web starter packages at a decent saving.

If you follow OM you'll know that GoLite has developed from an initial approach of puritanical minimalism - with kit designed by lightweight backpacking guru Ray Jardine - to a still light, but much more broadly appealing range using the latest fabrics and designs.

We actually credit the company, along with TGO's Chris Townsend, with spearheading the increasing shift towards lightweight kit in the UK. At the recent Friedrichshafen outdoors show the company announced its first ever internally-framed pack, probably the lightest ever, as well as showing some extremely neat clothing using fabrics from the likes of Polartec, Epic and Gore. See the links below for more information.

We've been very impressed with the GoLite kit we've used and the latest stuff is light years away from the early days of sack-like cut and no-frills design, so it's great to see it out there on the web.

Some interesting ideas from Hike-Lite too, who are selling starter ultra-lightweight packages at a good saving over recommended price. You could, for example, buy a GoLite Gust pack, Cave shelter and Paclite waterproof as a package. There are other specialist brands on the site too.

It's great to see this interesting brand getting easier to find and reportedly selling well. Hopefully it'll get easier to track down in other retailers this year.
