Void Tickets Selling Fast

Tickets are apparently selling fast for the UK Gala Film Premiere of Joe Simpson's mountaineering survival epic Touching The Void at November's Kendal Mountain Film Festival, so if you want to be there you'd best book soon...

The main premiere will be presented by Simpson himself on the Saturday of the main festival weekend (12-16) November. A capacity audience of 900 is expected at Kendal Leisure Centre with further showings throughout the week. Touching The Void isn't due on general release till next year, so it's a great opportunity to catch it early.

The feature-length film by Oscar-winning director Kevin MacDonald took two years to make and was shot on location in the Alps and Andes. This drama-documentary reconstruction the book promises to become a mountaineering film classic with the epic crevasse plunge dramatically re-created for the film. Several cast and crew members will be with Simpson to give an insight into the making of the film as he introduces the initial showing at Kendal.

KMFF Director John Porter said, "The Festival is privileged to be able to show this remarkable film before its general release next year. My Co-Director Brian Hall was a member of the production team and we are very pleased that the Director and his team see Kendal as the most suitable location for its UK premiere. It is a sign of the quality of the Festival that Kendal is able to secure this film as part of our incredible line-up of events".

Regular updates about the festival and tickets are available at the festival web site or the Brewery Arts Centre on 01539 725133. Prices from £6 to £50.
