Two British alpinists trapped on a ridge in the Alps in appalling
conditions were rescued after texting friends at home asking them to
alert the rescue services.
The pair, Rachel Kelsey, 34, and Jeremy Colenso, 33 - both experienced climbers - were stranded
by a storm as they descended Piz Badile in the Swiss Alps and spent
two nights in sub-zero temperatures before rescue teams were able to
reach them.
Remarkably both climbers survived unscathed after warming hands
and feet every 15 minutes to ward off frostbite. For the full
story, see the Guardian web site.
