Regular OMers will know that we really rate the new eVENT
waterproof fabric as arguably the most breathable conventional
waterproof material on the market.
Right now it's only available from a handful of brands, notably
Lowe Alpine who are using it for their top-end technical jackets this
winter, RAB, Montane - who have a lightweight eVENT top on the way -
and in the shops soon, Craghoppers.
Crags actually rushed the production of their jackets forward to
meet demand, so they're appearing a season early. Unlike other eVENT
jackets on the market, they use a two-ply version of the fabric with
a drop liner and they're also designed as sturdy, general use
mountain jackets rather than out and out technical mountaineering
shells.
We saw
them at the Harrogate trade show last autumn and they look the
part, with the shorter-cut, top-end Equinox coming in at £250
and the longer, more traditional Epoch and Elixir (women's version)
being priced at £220.
They'll be in the shops in the next few months, but if you want a
sneak preview, check out the Cotswold stand at this weekend's Daily
Telegraph Adventure Travel and Sports Show at London's Olympia - see
here
for details - where Craghoppers will have a small presence.
Alternatively, if you're going to next month's Outdoor
Adventure Show there'll be a Craghoppers stand where you'll be
able to check out the jackets in the flesh.
