The weekend's OM Spring Meet-Up at Buttermere in the Lake District
was a corker with a record 35 or so OUTDOORSmagic members rolling up
for a weekend of casual showers, dedicated walking and scrambling and
professional level partaying.

Rubbish visibility high up on
High Stile...

Activities included colonising most of the campsite in Buttermere,
erecting a dedicated partay tent and taking over half the pub on
Saturday night for an orgy of beer drinking and balloon bending -
more of which later.
The weather was showery rather than spectacular, but most people
got out on both days with Saturday seeing a lot of OMers out on Red
Pike and High Stile though the views were, ahem, limited. Sunday was
brighter and scrambling was the popular choice, both locally in
Buttermere and on Blencathra further north.

the slippiest path in the world.

Thanks too to Julie and Paul from Montane who rolled up with some
pre-production test samples for people to try on the hill.
Unfortunately, like the OM editor, they're not very good at getting
up in the morning, so the number of OMers who actually took advantage
of the offer was quite small, though those that did seemed pretty
impressed with the ultra-lightweight eVENT Superfly jackets and
Smocks they tried - more about the Smock soon.
I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who came along and made it
such an enjoyable weekend. It's fantastic that a web site can be the
mechanism to bring together such a wide range of disparate people
from all over the UK, all with a common love of the outdoors.
Watch out for a summer OM Meet-Up coming soon and if you're
looking for walking partners or want to organise a meet of your own,
check out the Meets
and Partners section of the forum.
