Sussex-based waterproofing specialists Nikwax have been awarded
The Queen's Award for Enterprise, International Trade 2004, the third
time the company has received the accolade.
Founder Nick Brown comments: "I am delighted by this Award, our
third Queen's Award gained since 1996 although this is our first for
Enterprise. Nikwax® first started when I created a wax to
waterproof my leather boots and I never dreamed then that it would
grow into such a large business."
"Nikwax® is about conserving the performance and making the
most of your clothing, footwear and equipment rather than about
having to replace your gear." He continues. "Three things link Nikwax®
and our customers globally - a deep appreciation for the countryside
and the environment; the wish to be active outdoors in any kind of
leisure or sport activity and the need to stay dry, comfortable and
safe in wild and exciting locations."
The company says that some 63 per-cent of its turnover is now the
result of exports with Nikwax products available in some 41 countries
worldwid, the most recent of these being Singapore, Korea and
Mainland China. It's all helped by the use of native languages on all
of its products.
