It was the biggest OUTDOORSmagic Meet-Up so far with around 35 OM
members plus one OM editor and a couple of the guys from gear company
Montane getting together for two days of walking, scrambling, eating,
drinking, socialising and, erm, sleeping, at Buttermere in the Lake
District.
Day one started with intermittent rain and clouds covering the
tops, so obviously we mostly went for a stroll over the likes of
Haystacks unfortunately with zero views to see. Sunday was a little
brighter and most OMers either took part in 'Operation Certain
Death', which was, I think, a local scramble, or wandered up the very
sharp Sharp Edge on Blencathra.
Probably most memorable were the evenings - Friday night started
slowly, accelerated gently in the pub then exploded into memorable
life in the special jumbo-sized partay tent. Saturday was a little
more sedate, probably due to the aftermath of Friday, but saw OMer
taking over half the pub for a relaxed evening of drinking and
talking about mountains, gear and pretty much anything else you can
imagine.
And then there were Roger's incredible balloon creations... Some
of them are suitable for public view, one or two, well, let's just
say this is a family site.
It was great to see so many people brought together by a mutual
addiction to the outdoors and, of all things, a web site. The next
Meet-Up is already taking shape in the forum, in the mean time
though, here are some pics from Buttermere. Thanks to everyone who
sent in their snaps.Enjoy...
