Challenge 8000 climber Alan Hinkes has again rebuffed claims by a
Spanish climber that he left him 'bleeding to death' on K2 in
1994.
Speaking to the Sunday Sun, a local Geordie paper, from Kathmandu,
Hinkes branded the claims as 'absolute rubbish'. He also pointed out
that the incident is captured in his documentary film 'Climbing K2'
which, he says, clearly shows that 'there is no blood in sight. He
had a broken arm and cracked ribs. If I had thought he needed help I
would have helped him.'
Hinkes adds that 'The year before, I had helped an injured Swedish
climber off the mountain and foregone my summit bid.'
Hinkes, who is sponsored by Berghaus
has just successfully climbed Dhaulagiri and is now just one summit
away from becoming the first Briton to summit all 14 of the world's
8,000-metre peaks.
