Big Time Multi-Functionality

Gear news in association with
eVent Fabrics

Comedy multifuctional outdoor kit seems to be all the rage this week - heart rate monotors that are also altimeters, baselayer tops you can reverse according to the weather and, just dropped into the OM letter box, a compass that's also a handy multi-functional opening thing.

The catchily named Silva OpenUp Compass is ideal for those moments when you need to combine a touch of navigation with a bottle of ice cold beer - ideal of the average OMer then - but, it says here, it's far more than just an ABS bottle-opener.

You can also use it to scrape out stubborn burnt on residue from cooking pans, wrestle with stubborn sardine can opening rings, lever open boxes and tins etc, etc, etc. Oh, and you can also use it to navigate, though obviously the opaque, multi-contoured baseplate is going to obscure more of the map than a traditional transparent one.

All this and a price of just £14.95. Pass the beers...

More Silva information at their UK web site.
