When we launched the OUTDOORSmagic gallery section late last year
we couldn't have imagined how popular it would be and what an
outstanding selection of images would be uploaded - to give you an
idea, around 600 images were submitted in the course of the first
week.
You might also recall that one of Montane's excellent eVENT
Superfly waterproof jackets was up for grabs for our favourite
submitted picture. Just to put the prize in perspective, we weren't
intending to turn the gallery into a battleground or discourage
anyone from submitting their shots, just to kickstart submissions in
the first place.
Choosing a winner has been incredibly difficult. We weren't
necessarily looking for perfect composition or classic landscapes,
though there are loads of those on the gallery, more something that
put stardust in our heads - something that smelled like
mountains.
In the end the shot we went for is this
one below taken on a Canadian glacier in the aftermath of a
thunderstorm by Rod Deaves. It's beautiful and there's something in
the faces that sums up the sheer wonderousness of being in the hills.
Rod was also the photographer who took the awesome mountain
toilet view that was on the homepage for a while in December.
Congratulations Rod :-)
Finally for a selection of more great OM members' pics, check out
the latest
rated images in the gallery.
