New Manchester Wall Opens Next Week

A quick heads-up for north west-based OMers with the news that the brand spanking new Manchester Climbing Centre is scheduled to open next week on Tuesday 22 February.

The brain child of top climber John Dunne and Mountain Equipment's Andrew Denton, the new centre in Ardwick means that at last Manchester will have a top-class indoor climbing facility. It's based in a converted church on the east side of the city and has all the facilities you'd expect from a top-class modern wall.

That includes a 20-metre leading wall, top roping facilities, a large bouldering area and no fewer than 75 rope line. Other facilities include a cafe, the Cotswold Rock Shop, showers, lockers, equipment hire, indoor bike rack and, reassuringly, secure parking.

The centre will also be running courses at all levels as well as John Dunne Master Classes for those who want to learn from one of Britain's top climbers.

Opening hours will be Mon-Fr 10am-10pm and weekends 10am to 6pm. You can download a registration form from the site now and check out some pics of the work in progress. It looks fantastic. Check out the web site.
