Peak Walking Festival Leaflet Now Out

The guide to the first ever Peak District Walking Festival in April this year is now available.

The free 24-page guide lists all the free walks which form the event, which runs from 16 April to 2 May. It's essential if you're considering going on one of the walks, since they all need to be pre-booked. It also gives basic details such as whether you should bring a pack lunch, if dogs are welcome, if it's suitability for family groups and whether it's worth packing a set of binoculars for the outing.

Led by experts with detailed local knowledge, there's a huge range of walks on offer from gentle town strolls to arduous trudges across the moors. There's even a singles walk if you want to make the outdoors your speed-dating party.

We particularly like the look of the Bleaklow aircraft wrecks walk, the Monsal walk taking in disused railway tunnels and some brilliant nature and wildlife outings. There are navigational and climbing classes running as part of the festival and even if you already know the Peak well, you should be able to get a new angle on familiar terrain.

You can get the guide from Tourist Information Centres in the Peak, or just fill in the request form at the Festival web site.
