Manchester Climbing Centre Opens Saturday

The new Manchester Climbing Centre - the one we told you about a few weeks ago - is finally opening its doors to the public tomorrow, Saturday from 10 am.

It's Manchester's first major climbing centre and is based in a converted grade 2 listed church in Ardwick. The main man behind the centre is top climber John Dunne, who'll be route setting and running his own master classes for those keen to improve their climbing skills.

The main wall is 20 metres high, but there's also a large bouldering area and no fewer than 75 rope lines. Other facilities include a cafe, the Cotswold Rock Shop, showers, lockers, equipment hire, indoor bike rack and, reassuringly, secure parking.

You can get the full blurb from the centre's web site, but it looks like a cracking facility and should be a real boon for Manchester-based rock climbers. Beginners are very welcome too with courses available.

See the web site for full details where you can also find a pre-registration document to fill out and take along.
