What with many OUTDOORSmagic members also doing the odd bit of
mountain biking, we thought you'd appreciate a quick heads-up on the
new The North Face mountain bike trail at Grizedale Forest in the
Lakes.
Although it's not quite officially open, trail builder Russ Burton
tells us that it's just waiting for way-marking posts and the route
is now totally rideable and easy to tollow. Starting from the Visitor Centre, the TNF Trail is 10 miles
long and includes some six miles of brand spanking new singletrack
designed by the lovely Russ himself.
As the man behind the acclaimed Welsh trails at Afan Argoed,
Burton knows a bit about building exciting, flowing singletrack. As
the press blurb puts it:
'He specializes in building cute singletrack that feels like
it's always been there. He has a cunning knack of spotting the right
line, the most interesting line - and a nasty northern way of taking
you up hill without realizing it. But he does also have lovely way of
making sure you'll finish on a high.'
Here are a couple more shots from Russ's own web
site to whet your appetite.... Just add bikes and stir vigorously
for a cracking day out :-)
