Our latest Christmas Cracker is possibly the silliest climbing
film we've ever seen, but in a good way.
STORMS THE MOVIE earned not just one, but two awards for
Alastair Lee and David Halsted at this year's Kendal Mountain Film
Festival and it's easy to see why, it's a uniquely funny take on the
climbing universe.
From the initial satisfying decapitation of the Crazy Frog, it
never lets up with a series of sketch-type takes on high-profile
climbing targets. Arguably the funniest bit of the whole movie is a
beautifully observed and produced parody of Touching The Void under
the label 'Touching Myself'' which artfully steals the talking heads
format of the award-winning epic drama documentary to screamingly
funny effect.
That's just the start though and Lee and Halsted follow up with
merciless lampoons of Chris Bonington - 'I Chose Two Autobiographies'
- and Alan HInkes, with his quest to make a purchase at all 14
Woolworth's check-outs in a single day plus a load more.
A second major set-piece, 'Saving Private Land' is another
lovingly executed film parody and...
To be honest, the problem with Storms is that all we can tell you
is that it's very funny, very clever and you should buy a copy. When
you do, don't forget to check out the numerous extras like the
'Touching Myself' lion singing the blues. Yes really.
Just brilliant. Priced at £17.99, you can order online at
